Exploring KAP
Exploring Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at Grey Matter Counseling & Consulting
At Grey Matter Counseling & Consulting, we are committed to offering innovative, evidence-based therapies to support our clients in their mental health journeys. One of the cutting-edge treatments we are now offering is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). While this may be a new concept for many, it has shown great promise in helping individuals who struggle with a range of mental health conditions that have not responded well to traditional therapies.
Ketamine IV Treatments and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) both use ketamine but differ in approach:
Administration: IV treatments involve ketamine infusions for mood disorders like depression, with little or no therapy during the session. KAP combines ketamine (often in lozenge or injection form) with psychotherapy to explore emotions and trauma during the altered state.
Goal: IV treatments focus on symptom relief, while KAP aims for psychological healing through guided therapy.
Support: IV treatments provide minimal psychological guidance, while KAP includes a therapist for real-time support and post-session integration.
Frequency: IV treatments involve short, frequent infusions; KAP includes fewer but longer sessions with deeper therapeutic involvement.
In short, IV treatments target neurochemical relief, while KAP integrates ketamine with therapy for emotional exploration.
